You are a dedicated reader. Did you read as much before retirement? I’m having a hard time focusing… I haven’t read for a while, just as I haven’t exercised for a long time. Any advice? How do you help a child to become a good reader?
Thanks for the comment, Laura!
Advice? Read books to a child or an adult to get them interested.
Match the books to the reader/listener.
Best to you . . .
Reading is my greatest luxury. Now I can order books off Amazon with one click and they come right to my door. It’s a dream come true. A favourite recent book is February House, which is about a brief time in New York when a group of famous writers and composers – and the stripper Gypsy Rose Lee lived in a ramshackle house. The poet W. H. Auden, composer Benjamin Britten, Paul Bowles, Carson McCullers and more. I love this kind of high level artsy gossip. I like to point out that Shakespeare used the word gossip according to its ancient root, which is Godparents. I don’t know if I can point that out to dear Pope Francis, since he uses that word in a derogatory way. – Madeline Bruce, Nanaimo, B. C.

I agree with sob!
I read to great-grand-kids now! And they like most books for kids.
